Its always fun to see and then talk about what other growers are planning on growing, thats why you see me asking this type questions alot, that and because we change our minds 100 times before planting time, lol. Here is what I like as far as new seeds, what do you like?
List your top 9 or 10 seeds with your favorite unproven 08 seed first.
My favorite for unproven gotta be the 1413 Werner 08' (1385 x 1556) Pollinator grew one over 1400lbs
985 Werner (1370.0 Rose x 898.0 Knauss )
1363 Werner(985.0 Werner x 1450.0 Wallace)
1350 Star (985 Werner x 227 Lealand) ( Only listed twice as being grown in the Aggc, but I have a great feeling this seed will grow big!!)
1631 Mckie ( 1041 Mckie x 1308 Mckie)
1031 Skinner (1402 Bosworth x 1041 Mckie)
1133 Kline (1631 x 1041 Mckie)
1209 Kuhn 08 ( 1385 Jutras x 1566 Rodonis)
1161 Rodonis'08(1231 Pukos x 1450 Wallace)
882 Starr'08' (227 Leland(clone) x 1041 Mckie)
1207 Young (1370 Rose x 1068 Wallace)
805 Pukos(1092.0 Burke '98' x 723.0 Bobier) You aint gotta pumpkin patch with out a Pukos seeds growing in it!,,lol

Brooks, how could you overlook the West Coast powerhitter this year.
1536.5 van Kooten 08 (1142 van Kooten x 998.6 Pukos) 1255 van Kooten 08 (1689 Jutras x 1142 van Kooten)
Now 1000+ fruit from the 1142 van Kooten with limited plantings, this seed should see alot of soil in 2009.
The 1255 stands out to me especially since the pollinator grew the #1 in the World for 2008 in the 1536.5.

I have to agree with Glenn, The 1255 vankooten. The pollinator grew the 1536 Vankooten. Should be a good one. 1142 speaks for itself.

1156 Hunt 08 (1631.5 mckie x 1689 Jutras). This seed will be featured this year in a GVGO growing contest with substantial cash prizes (shhh..not suposed to tell yet). This will mean this seed will see a lot of dirt this year.
Shameless plug: The seed is for sale at the PECPGA seed sale:

993 Vincent-McGill 08 (772 Poirier x 998 Pukos).
I also am excited about this seed. I have had a ton of requests as well the seed is also available as part the PECPGA seed sale. This seed will also see a lot of dirt this year and should grow big orange and excellent shape.
1132 Vincent-McGill 08* (995 Vincent-McGill* x 824 Brunst*)
The squash itself was 10% heavy. Pollinating plant grew a 21% heavy dark green squash. Many of the squash lines do not go over the chart very much. The 995 moma grew 4 squash this year the lightest was 7% heavy.

Ok here are my favorites...
1413 Werner is going to be awesome! 1556 Werner X 1385 Jutras. The 1385 Pollinator grew the 1483.5 Werner.
1500.5 Revier (985 Werner X 1207 Young) Biggest fruit grown on the 985 and biggest grown on the 1207 all in one seed! Oh did I mention that both mom and dad fruits were decently over the chart!
Now those two have to be my favorite 2008 seeds and will both see dirt in my patch in 2009. If all goes well I will cross both of them together. That would give you a seed in which all four grandparetns were over the chart, and along with that a seed that will have the largest fruits grown from each respective grandparents in it's background, and to go even further it would have the two largest fruits ever grown in it's background. The pollinator of the 1385 Jutras grew 1689 and the pollinator of the 1207 Young grew 1662!
Now apart from them...
970.5 Barenie (1231 Pukos X 1450 Wallace) Sound familar? 993 Vincent-McGill (772 Porier X 998 Pukos) The Orange Beauty crossed with The Orange Beast!
1269 Hunt (901 Hunt X 1631.5 McKie) 1269 had great shape and the fruit the pollinaotr grew also had great shape!
So there are my favorite 2008 Seeds.

1255 vanKooten pollinator grew 1536.5 Thanks Jake!
1378 Pitura grows 20% heavy and could be orange... still some left at the PECPGA seed sale!
1129 Crews est was on pace for arghhhhhh
1163 Revier almost overlooked.. 1248 Ford x 1207 Young pollinator grew 1428 and was less than 60 days old Thanks Chad!
949 Zoellner Great orange genes and was a young fruit Thanks Jeff!
993 Vincent-McGill 998 pollinator went 1170 should cross with 949
1556 Werner ....grows big.. needs more dirt

893 Privetera 998 x 1068
660 Dill 810 x 1016
694 Fowler 1180 x 1446.5
These will all see dirt here in my patch in 2009. Still think 998 Pukos and 1068 Wallace or crosses of them will set the next world record.

I think Phils 901 will see a bunch of dirt also.
Vince,, that (1631 x 1689) cross I really like a lot, but which of the 6 seeds out there with that same cross or reverse is gonna be the best seed to grow is the million dollar question, lol,,, all of them pumpkins are very similar in there shape and sizes. Tough decision for sure!
1237 Jutras'08'(1631 x 1689)
1184 Barker'08' (1631 x 1689)
1156 Hunt '08' (1631 x 1689)
or reverse cross
1272 Burnst '08 (1689 x 1631)
1187 Hunt'08 (1689 x 1631)
1055 Jutras'08 (1689 x 1631)
I think another seed that will be planted alot, that you dont hear much about is the 1689 Jutras seed.

It is my guess that one of the next power seeds will be the 1483.5 Werner ( 1385 Jutras X 1207 Young ). In their first year out the parents of this seed combined for 27 pumpkins over 1000 pounds.

320 Lombardi UOW 08(1450 Wallace X 998 Pukos)and 1246 Lombardi 08(998 Pukos X 1450 Wallace)....went heavy to the chart. These crosses look as good as any on paper IMO. 1157 Lombardi 08(769 Lombardi X 998 Pukos) isn't too shabby either. Could be a good one for big, orange, and heavy.

these are my favorite 2008 unproven seeds to get you over the 1000 lb hump. if you have been hovering in the 900 lb range, these heavy potentials should get you to the 4 digit club.
1255 Van Kooten 2008 (1,689 Jutras X 1,142 Van Kooten 20.27% heavy and pollinated with the 1142 that grew Jake's 1536.5. 1185.5 Daletas 2008 (1041.5 x 898) 21% heavy 1223 Glasier 2008 (961.5 urena x 1041.5) 20.1% heavy 1027 Huff 2008 (904 Stelts x 961.5 Urena) 961.5 are crazy heavy genes
