Next year I am growing my 1246 from this year (998 Pukos x 1450 Wallace). My question is what to cross it with? There was a very low seed count and I won't get many chances to grow it and cross it. I was thinking of sibbing it but then I figured throw it out there and see what others say. Mark

I ordered a 400 Langavin (1689 Jutras x 1631 Mckie) from Langavin's web site, 5 for 10 dollars, I just think its a darn good cross, I bet it would be a great pollinator.

I think a 1370 Rose might be a good cross, if you can get ahold of one. Or how about your 769 or 1157? I think your 1157 could have great potential for large size, nice color, and heavy to the chart. The 1207 Young(1370 Rose X the heaviest 1068 Wallace ever grown) could be a great pollinator. Congrats on your great season Mark!

Milford, that's a great cross you got there by the way. Doug and Pete are right on for % heavy genetics, if that's what you're aiming for those are great choices. I picked up on the low seed count, so what exactly are you shooting for. If you're looking to re-enforce what you already have, maybe consider a 1385 Jutras or 1096 Privitera. I don't think I have a lot of support here, but look at the 1092 Martin. It's done pretty well I think. Anyway, good luck. I love this genetics stuff.

Mark if you want o continue to reinforce as was already said continue with the additon of the 846/723 genes or the 898/845 genes. The afforemention have dominated the pumpkin areana for some time. It may be hard to find something outside the box, maybe look into a DILL seed.

If I was to grow one I may breed in some more similar genes, they are always alittle different when the cross pollinating. I may cross it with a 1116Traylor, 1306Jutras, 1301Eaton, 1133Demers, 733Ciliberto....
