            | JMattW | Omaha, NE (N41-15-42 ) | I am taking notes and evaluating changes to my seed starting system for next year. I used 6" pvc containers this year and they worked great. I was thinking about trying clear pvc containers next year so I watch root development and keep better tabs on moisture. In a transparent container, would the roots be harmed by light?
 Thanks,

 Matt

            | Jake Byrd | Belgium | I have heard that the roots will grow away from the light, but I don't know if this would really matter. | 5/19/2004 3:52:22 PM |

You deserve the credit for my Sewer & Drain pipe contraption. Boy did that ever work well. They're now stored safe & sound on an upper shelf of the greenhouse until next year. I will never start a seed in anything else again. They worked very well.

You could keep a clear container wrapped in brown paper when not making inspections.
