Over the winter monthes I have gotten quite interested in growing the atlantic giant pumpkin. I ordered a half ounce of seeds from Gurney's before I had looked around the net and found there was such a thing as premium seeds. My question is, what are the chances of growing a "biggie" with the seeds that I have purchased, or should I open the wallet up and plant premium seeds instead?

I have purchased Dill Giant Atlantic's from various seed catalogs without much success. If you have 1500 sq. feet of garden space, do you really think they want you to grow 1 Dill or 20 different vegetables. Since this was my first year growing Dill, I planted a Henry Fields along with a Dave Hampton's 801. The Field's produced two pumpkins - 60 and 90 lb on a dinky plant. The Hampton produced 4 averaging 200 on a monster plant with potential for 800+. It's in the genetics and the seed catalog company know that most people will be happy with a 100 pounder that doesn't take up their whole garden. Seeds are available from many of the NEPGA members.

I have many seeds still available for free. They come from my 457 from last year. The great grandparents of this seed are the 975 Zehr and the 1061 Zehr.
