I used Pro-mix Bx last year and it worked fine...although ArvadaBoy made an interesting observation in similar thread last year...http://www.bigpumpkins.com/MsgBoard/ViewThread.asp?b=3&p=293589... I am gonna try both this year.

Sorta thinkin somebody was talkin bout a Pro-mix (HP) same as BX, plus some type of bio stimulant included!!?? My big prblm. is that no local nursery or greenhouse seems to carry pro-mix BX...much less the HP stuff!!! Peace, Wayne PS...at the very least a sterilized starting mix, and add yer own Mycho!!!

Pro Mix BX. Sold only a mile from my work. I think it's 2.8cf bag for $17.99.

A few years ago I searched the Premier web site to find dealers and then called the closest one(about an hour away) only to find that they distribute to a garden center only four blocks from where I work. Maybe try this approach Wayne.

This is what I am using this year. I also put a bunch of it in my main patch.

I ended up not liking the Fox Farm's Light Warrior seed starting mix. It was a great seed starting mix, out performing any other mix that I tired, but what I didn't test when I did my test plantings is how well it stayed together when you tried to get the plants out of the pot. It is very light and as a result it doesn't clump together at all and I lost some roots when transfering the pumpkins into the ground. Already got my bag of Pro Mix BX and will be doing some test plantings next week.

Check your local nursery ask if you can buy what they use. They may sell it to you?

Peace Wayne I'm in the nursery business in Indianapolis, In. Pro-mix HP is 30% perlite for better drainage. Pro-mix BX doesn't have that much perlite in it.John VanHook knows who I am, if you want me to get some for you I can do that for you. We have a couple places here in Indy that I can purchase it from. Tom Gary {Gary's Greenhouse, Inc.] P.S. Iwas at Nancy Last Fall and John always comes to Indiana State Fair
