Just wondering. I see suggestions of 90-95 temps. How much room for error? Does 100 cook it? 110? I am guessing that it is better to err on the low side, but is there a key temp at which seed death occurs? Does it have to be sustained at a high temp? Many, many, questions. Thanks

I would say this really depends..140 is the normal Number for killing things. I would say anything above 110 for a sustained period would greatly effect your outcome.

Higher temps raise the liklihood of fungal disease issues. I get very nervous if the germination chamber (cooler & heating pad) gets up over 95 for any significant time.

The reason I asked is that it was around 90 (maybe hitting 95 on the occasion) but I got less than stellar results. I planted 10 and had 6 pop within 3 days. The rest have done nothing.

I dug up the 4 and they look perfect, but no activity whatsoever. The one thing that is different is that they now sink in water instead of floating. I replanted and crossed my fingers, but still no activity.

All seeds had "exactly" the same treatment so maybe it was just bad luck. The 1347 Wallace, 1140 McKie, 1314 Beauchemin and 1055 Pitura are had this issue. Probably just my bad technique. Thanks

If your getting worried one sure way to get it going is remove the coating , but its kindo trickey , I did do it to my 1068 last yr after waiting quite a while !!

100+ degrees, the seeds are cooked. I cooked a hand-full like that myself. IMHO, AG seed will cook at 95. It doesn't help speed things up by raising up the temp... they need steady 80-90. Water them lightly to bring the temp down. Error on the cooler side. Damp, not wet. Set temp at 85 for 4 days. Sorry if you lost some good ones.
