I think the green ones overheat and start to turn a brownish color. I think shade protection is crucial for the greenies.

Yeah sunburn... might be hard to convince the judges its still a squash ... but maybe if you keep it covered the color will revert back. They are super sensitive to any amount of direct sun... Not sure if its the brightness or the heat.

Noah, have you tried a clean damp towel over the top even for a few hours? We have trees here with sunscald dropping all leaves. Some of my garden plants also have been dropping blossoms in our high heat temperatures. Almost looks as though something is causing the sun's reflected rays by way of a shiny surface to your fruit. Just guessing here by the shape of the orange shown on your fruit.
