Hi Lilli, here some thoughts regarding your fruit growth issue related to the rainfall...too much rain and slowing fruit growth which, maybe, is a response to the too much of water in the soil. Not sure if it helps alot in such a case, but I could imagine that a back-to-back plant pattern (two AG plants growing in the same spot, just 3 - 5 ft from one another, their main vines growing in opposite directions) would allow form somewhat enhanced use of the excess water by the plants (two two plants, with their combined force, drinking the water from essentially the same area) could get the soil back to "comfortable" conditions in the root zone much easier than individual plants on their onw spots. In times when it is hot and dry, some additional watering might be necessary (but that´s something you can do), but in times of excess rainfall, when you can´t do anything to get rid of the excess water but wait until it went away and the plant has taken up a bit of it, the plants may have somewhat easier play to do the latter.
