Do melon growers count stripes or something? How do you gauge the end result... long has to be good because the rind is where the weight is? Im curious about how you will decide this.

My guess is the one on the right is the better melon. THose long skinny ones are often pretty disappointing at the scales. Although they are impressive as heck!
