Yep, I'm hoop hoeing as I go this year. No Roundup. I think Round up is what messed me up last year. Just incase you thing the main is coming at you in this photo, it's not. That't the back secondary. I'm letting tertiary's come off it, i.e. the four sets of skewers on the left. The tip of the main is way out to your right. The furthest out plant is facing in the exact opposite direction.

I know some folks have used round up with success but I always thought mine were affected by the residue.
