I was surprised how cool and damp it was under this woven fabric I am using. It was not hot like black plastic.
I hope it is cool enough for those roots!

I feel a large tomato is in your future! I agree that it is cooler under our black weed block as it seems to reflect the sun. We remove ours as the pumpkin plants grow but I am thinking you should be ok. I would do a soil temp test with a soil thermometer to see where you are at.

Good idea John. I will check the temperature on the fabric, under the fabric and on bare soil.

I've made the mistake of going out in the afternoon in bare feet in black soil. Was watering my feet more than misting the plants. John is right...Check the temps Ken and you might find it's cooler under fabric...air cushion...just my thought
