Hay Adam what seed did you grow that 1st place beauty from? I am estimating its weight at 834# (Good number like my last years squash!). Sorry we missed you yesterday at the weigh in I brought Jack LaRue in with us, he says I need to get some pointers from ya!

Gerry, it was a 1048 Companion (x with self)it was the best growing plant EVER. Some leaves on the plant measured more than 30" x 30" And the best part of all it loved the heat!!! You are right, it was estemated at about 834lbs. However I was pleasantly surprised as it went heavy. (wink wink)
The Squash (895.5) was even more amazing as it was only at 302 OTT in. IT WAS 16 FRICKING % HEAVY!!! Adam

Why isn't the first place weight posted? Was it a private weigh-off? Michel

I will post the weight as soon as our local fair is over. We have a contest every year to guess the weight of the biggest pumpkin. Winner gets $100.00 for guessing the weight. Sorry, I was swarn to secrecy untill the fair was over. I know it's kind of lame. Adam

It isn't lame at all....its how many of the smaller local fairs fund these events and without these guess the wieght contests we wouldn't have a place to go with our pumpkins and squash.....great job RunnerKid and all who brought something.....G
