Chris,
Durham had a brand new certified digital scale last year.
We need to get the entry forms into the office by Sept 18th.
Durham is awarding prize money to the top 10 finishers this year rather than just the top 3 as in the past.
From the website:
Class 8 - “KING OF THE PUMPKIN PATCH”
Exhibit of pumpkins of 100 pounds and over. Prizes awarded for the three largest pumpkins by weight at the Fair. Prize money of $1 for every pound over 100 pound minimum. In the case of pumpkins weighing the same, the tie will be broken based on the appearance of the pumpkins.
NEW AWARDS FOR 2004 - The 4th, 5th, & 6th heaviest pumpkin will receive $100 each. The 7th thru 10th heaviest pumpkin will receive $50

Thanks Steve...I have my entry form in the mail...but I haven't had any growth in a little while and concerned about the potential of rotting in the patch before the 22nd. THe high heat last week couldn't have helped either. SO I was just considering the option of brining it somewhere before the Durham Fair for a weigh in. This pumpkins estimate has nearly doubled my PB and I'd love to see it on a scale...

You might try stopping into the local UPS or Fedex office. Some trucking companies have certed scales too but I'd be careful. I recall a weigh-off that went to heck last year after the "certified scale" was found to be way off.
