Team-Pumpkin would like to remind growers that entry forms are required and due September 16th for the GPC weigh off at the Durham Fair. Pumpkins of all colors and long gourds must arrive between 3pm and 9pm on September 23rd.
Prizes, $1 for each pound over 300 for first, second and third heaviest. 4th, 5th, 6th heaviest receive $100 each. 7th through 10th receive $50 each. Ribbons for the top 20 entries and everyone receives a certificate for their achievement.
Team-Pumpkin believes the fruit of your summers work deserves to be seen and at Durham it will be seen and enjoyed by thousands. Use the link below to get your entry form and send it in today. Get your pumpkin seen where more Ct State Record Pumpkins have been weighed than anywhere else. Who knows, there may be a new record this year !! Did we say.. NO ENTRY FEE!!

The GPC ranks all Dill's Atlantic Giant Cucurbita maxima including all green Squash. We've also been dolling out squash plaques & assisting with the green jacket (at the Niagara Seminar) under the auspices of the squash growers who finance the green jacket on their own.
Many growers probably don't realize that all DAG's are squash anyway. We simply prefer to call the orange ones pumpkins.

However, to answer your squash question read below...
"Pumpkins of all colors are eligible for prize money, and ties will be broken based on appearance. If, however, the entry is deemed to be 100% gray/green in color, the entry will be titled as a squash, but will still be eligible for prize money and a ribbon as stated above, since the placing is based on weight."
