Join us on the fairgrounds on October 10th for the Vancouver Island Exhibition Pumpkin Festival!
See the giant pumpkins weigh in! 2009 winner was 1222 pounds!
Fun for the whole family! Hay rides! Pumpkin Carving! Petting Farm! Concessions! AND MORE.... P.S . we are trying to make this a GPC sanctioned weighoff. Just need to get the okay from the organizers and the gpc will let us in this year. Thanks and more details to follow

Who's going to want to bring a pumpkin to a contest where they already know what the winner is? was? Does that automatically make theirs smaller? ;o)

I'm guessing that 1222 was last year?

Well, we can already guess that Jake might make a run for this year's prize. Who knows?

Dave, nice job! The Nanaimo Weigh-off is always a first class event and fun to attend.
Please let me know if it is going to be a sanctioned GPC event as that will determine if I can make it or not this year.
I like the earlier date this year!!

Very cool, good work Dave.
And don't let anyone give you any flak over the pre-determined winner idea. I for one like it...lets you know where you stand before you even show up! Maybe next year Glenn could be the winner...it's about the only way he's gonna get a blue ribbon!!!
PS: Let the trash talk begin!

Hey...I might be able to win that blue ribbon if I gave seeds to Jake or Craig to grow for me...
Chad, can you help me get my pumpkins out of the backyard on your to the weigh-off? Thanks Bud!

Dave and Lesley do a fantastic job in Nanaimo. Having GPC affiliation would be a feather in their cap. My biggest dilemma will be choosing between Nanaimo and Shoreline as both are on the same day. No record setting pumpkins coming out of the Dutchman's patch this year. The record setting heat wave in July gave me a lot of grief.

Thanks you guy's. Our weighoff this year will be a GPC level 1 entry and hopefully next year at least level 2 or better, but for now this is the step in the right direction. The viabilty of this weighoff will depend on the number of entry's we get. So hope to see a good turnout on October 10th. We will announce the prize structure once we finalize the sponsorship.
Thanks again to the GPC for letting us in this late
