no list would be complete without recognizing the extreme effort by the one and only abbynormal (aka Norman Gansert) of Rhode Island. Norm did everything possible to bring this one to the scale. On first inspection it appeared he had won the contest with the evil pumpkin spirits but it wasn't to be. Deep within the reaches of the defect was a hidden hole into the cavity. Norm got the big DQ for his fruit that weighed 836 pounds. Norm, your a good sport and we hope you'll be back with a bigger (and better) one next year.
Team-Pumpkin is proud to see 14 of our new growers make it to the scale this year. We all know how much there is to learn and we expect to see them all back at the scale with even bigger fruit next year.

Kudos to all. This was a tough year for many CT growers.
I just got off the phone with Jim (Matt's Dad). Matt defied the odds by applying well earned skills in a fresh plot. I am so impressed with Matt's results!
Mark pulled off the near impossible in his already grown in garden. You sand-bagger Mark! LOL
Joe taking 5th is a shocker.
All those new growers are a very positive sign. I hope you all had fun, learned a bunch & stick with this crazy hobby.
What a weigh-off. I am in awe.

Congratulations to everyone! Especially to Matt and Mark. I was awestruck by all the pumpkins! Matt Debacco and Bart Toftness have really brought alot of new growers up to speed with Team-pumpkin. A very successfull weigh-off, in what has been a very challenging year in New England.
