Just wanted to remind everyone the deadline for the Kentucky State Fair is quickly approaching. Forms are available at http://www.kystatefair.org/competitions/entry_info/index.html
We added in the last few years a division just for large vegetables. Premiums for the Largest Pumpkin and Watermelon is $50. Not much compared to some of these contests, but much higher than what's been offered in the past. Catalog is at this link, and division is on page 5: http://www.kystatefair.org/competitions/entry_info/downloads/entrycatalog/13%20veg2007_13%20veg.qxd.pdf
~Anna Disclaimer: Yes I'm the Superintendent and always love seeing these big things weighed! And I'm always learning, more, too :)

It is in Somerset, Ky., on the last Saturday of Sept. 1st year out, but can guarantee more than $10 for 1st place. Contact me at wsmpeace@aol.com Peace, Wayne

Wayne, nope, up to $50 this year! Same for the big watermelon. Not sure if the increase came from a sponsor if from the Fair Board, but finally a better increase. The whooping $10 did come from a sponsor for several years that I secured to at least make it a little better. I at least had that fore site!
That's excellent to hear about the GPC site! Off to email you.

Thanks Wayne! I need to formalize everything on my part to make sure the time is approved, but it looks like at this time I'll be there. Let's hope the weather cools off a tad bit, though!
