Cornerstone, Early Anything Weigh-Off Come Grow With Us, September 15th 2007 1 Evergreen Lane, Thornton, ON. L0L 2N0 _________________________________________________ The Cornerstone Early Anything weigh-off announces the implementation of enhanced grower’s prizes in Pumpkin, Long Gourd, and Watermelon. Prize packages are still being determined and are expected to dramatically increase for the 2007 weigh-off. Local growers can now join with us as an Innisfil area only prize will be awarded. In addition a prettiest pumpkin prize package will accompany the best shaped and colored traditional orange pumpkin fruit. Silver entry, 25 Weigh off, 1 entry includes entry into the main weigh-off prizes & draws Gold entry, 40 Plus New or Renewal Membership in the GIANT VEGETABLE GROWERS OF ONTARIO. Platinum entry, 55 Family Plan, Includes all of the above plus three fruit entries.
About the Cornerstone Weigh-off The Cornerstone Early Anything Weigh - off, first launched in the early summer of 2006 by Roy Lee(Cornerstone) & Russ Landry (GVGO, GPC) held the inaugural event on September 16th 06. Four major sponsors, (Cornerstone Landscaping, Innisfil ON & Brampton ON, Kings Buffet - Barrie, Applebees - Barrie, Revolution Wheel & Tire –Barrie) lead a very respectable effort garnering 9th place finish and world Giant Pumpkin Common Wealth top ten ranking in its first attempt at hosting such an event. Winner Todd Kline tipped the scales with a pace setting 1250 pounds of glistening fruit that placed 15th in world. Extensive media coverage dominated the event with exclusive coverage by A channel television news and several local newspapers. Entrants were attracted from New York State, Quebec and Ontario as prizes totaled in excess of $3,000.
