I am most familiar with Elk Grove and with Half Moon Bay. Are either one of these or another one the BIGGEST for CA?

Ben, curious as to what makes a weigh-off the BIGGEST? Most punkins, most viewers (people), most...no I don't want to say it...money!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL Hope ya got a big one, them Cali guys have some monsters goin... Peace, Wayne

I'd say that Californians consider Elk Grove to be OUR big weighoff, since it is virtually all California growers. There are quite a few more pumpkins weighed at Elk Grove as well. Half Moon Bay is the self proclaimed "World Championship" and has growers from all over the west coast. Both have about the same prize money...$5 per pound for 1st. Elk Grove pays through 20th...Half Moon Bay pays through 10th.

I ain't got nuthin'. I stopped growing in June. Just wanted to see where I could go in CA to see the best weigh-off.

Ben, I aint got nuthin either...aborted several at 30 to 50 inches circ. All gone by mid July...everything rotted at approx 14 days. No explanations yet, ... wait til next year??? LOL Peace, Wayne PS...this nu-B had excellent time at weigh-off at Indy St. Fair, and will defin. make at least one more wknd trip to weigh-off, somewhere, sometime, in Oct.
