I was just wondering when we would know the solid color prize. I dont know about the rest of the fruit, but the 1273.5 Howard was very good looking, and is definitely eligible for the solid color award. Obviously this wont be determined until the end of the weighoffs, but who is working on that. My Dad's 971 was also solid color. I just didnt know how that was all going down, and was interested in how it will play out.

i can tell you that at Cooperstown my 1407, joe's 1231, and tim's 1217 are not eligible. mine was a nice pink on the top and end, but had about 10% of the typical blue near the stem. the other 2 were whitish colored.

Frank Catapano had a tremedously big wheeled, orange fruit at Port Elgin that should be nominated.

Dave Stelts, or someone else from the GPC board can chime in here, but I believe any fruit to be considered for solid color awards must have 4 way photos submitted to the GPC...

Do they consider "pretty" as well as weight for the 100% awards? Don't quite understand how they pick it. At Nekoosa we didn't believe that we had any contenders for this category.

I thought it was simply the largest solid colored fruit. I may be wrong though.

Pretty has nothing to do with it. If the fruit was 100% orange its eligible for the Orange color bonus. The intent of this bonus as I understand it is to maintain and preserve the solid colored fruits...100% green bonus, 100% orange bonus go to the heaviest pure color fruits in addition to any of the GPC monies for total bulk wieght.

all gpc site coordinators were notified of the process for submitting a fruit for either the true pumpkin and/or squash award
they must take digital photos of front ,back, both sides and forward to steering committee for review
true pumpkin awards are 1. 1,000 2. 500. 3. 400. 4. 300. 5. 200. true grn/blue squash 1. 500. * keep in mind that even though its an award for pure pumpkin or squash the fruit must also be the heaviest in its catagory
