All applications must be recieved by September 31st.No fruits will be weighed that have not submitted an application, absolutely no exceptions. Go to CTPUMPKIN.com for application and rules. Thanks Dave

Not that it makes a difference to me but why have such a rule? It seems that the only effect this rule would have is to limit the pumpkins at an event. Isn't the idea to get as much interest and participation as possible. Think of the ill will that will be created when someone doesn't pre register and yet brings a pumpkin. The whole organization then gets a black eye and loses a future supporter. It also starts the event off with an "unfriendly" atmostphere.

I honestly dont know of a weigh off in this area that doesnt have a registration form, Topsfield, Durham, BigE etc. I understand youre point completely however we need to plan ahead with what we are getting. Thanks for the input. Dave

When you have 100 plus pumpkins showing up for a weigh off not pre-registering would be a logistical nightmare. There are enough issues with the weigh off. (scales, fork lifts, fork lift drivers ect...) Without the pre-reg it would make it even more difficult. If your growin a big pumpkin I would hope you wouldn't forget to register for your local weigh off! Topsfield fair has close to 3000 people coming and going during the weigh off not to mention all the participants we like to know who is supposed to be there and who is not pre-reg helps with that.

Our contests around here dont have enough entrants to cause a problem with the logistics. Never thought of that. Good info for the future, and preregistry is a good idea if it becomes a problem.

PS...Dave, you getting any emails from me yet?

No Tom, I have to try and fix my filter for the third time. I will get it done or get some tech support. Keep you posted. I will phone you. Dave

We aren't likely to see 100 entrants at a brand new weigh-off. With 1 forklift & all unpaid volunteers we'd be challenged to handle half that many! LOL.
But Dave's right in that all of the weigh-offs in this area have deadlines. Most are more stringent than ours in that you don't attend if the form arrives just 2 days before the event.
