Hi guys,

I'm just wondering how long it should take giant tomato seeds to germinate?

Mine are in now 5 days and doesn't look to be any signs of life yet

Depends on your temperature ? If you Are at room temp 70°-75° 5 to 10 days. At 80°-85° around 4 to 5 days and 85°-90° 3 to 4 days

I have the temperature set at 69F. Might turn it up a bit so! They're in a germination cabinet in the glasshouse atm.

If they don't germ we're in trouble, but sure we'll deal with that when we get to it!

Although I’m guessing you would rather have them come up quick, we’ve had seeds take as long as 14 days that still did pretty well (5+lbs)...the heat will help. Too soon to panic..good luck!!

I have terrible germination with a seed germinating heat mat, maybe 20%. But, no heat, 100%, in 5-6 days. Everything else being equal.

I also have had better luck with top down heat aka the grow lights. My t5 bulbs keep the germ chamber at 80 or 90 depending if the door is closed shut tight or open a half inch.

Six days in now. No shows. I'll let this go for another four days then press the panic button. Wouldn't mind, but all my normal eating tomatoes germinated no problem and are flying.

To add to the germination times unheated 7 to 14 days. Some seeds take a bit longer.

I put seeds in a bowl of room temperature water.
After 2-3 days they usually sprout a small white root.
Then I bed them in seed starting mix.
Usually pop up within a couple of days.
