Hi I’m new this year in tomato growing. When would I start them for a September 30th weighoff. It gets cold around here at the end of September so I would aim for 2 weeks before and keep it in the refrigerator. Thanks

Wixom MI.

It more about getting a flower to set August 1 to August 10 to have a tomato ready for September 30 weighoff

Last year I didn't get everything germinated until June. I did early tomatoes Sept 9 with Bnot. I weighed a 4.05 Megamutt there.

Correction. We had Early Tomato Weighoff Sept. 15. Sept. 8 was email date.

I would start much earlier. I would also not turn down seeds from pork... Although I do hope some of the ones I sent are good

Dan Sutherland has probably started his right about now based on his rather early entries last year. Plus you'll have a few more to eat. Or try starting a few now and a few later.

No sense starting earlier in New York unless you have a greenhouse w warm soil...glen gets to start earlier because his region is different
