After a little over 2 years you would have dried up tomato skin so i would say 0.25 oz.

Guaranteed. We are all Googling GDD. I come up with Glaucoma Drainage Device. But all jokes aside, you come up with a very good question. Even though I don't know you I am trying to think about what you are asking. You are asking a question that has the answer on why some people can grow over 7 pounds. I often wonder why some people crank you these monsters and others are just big. Temperature seems to be the biggest factor on how fast a tomato grows and how fast it ripens. The following is copied from this website: http://www.walterreeves.com/gardening-q-and-a/tomato-how-long-to-ripen/
"The unit scientists use is Growing Degree Days (GDD). A Growing Degree day is calculated by adding the low temperature of a day to the high temperature of the day and dividing by 2. From the result, 50 is subtracted…because most plants don’t grow at temperatures below 50 degrees".
Some of the biggest growers (the mysterious Sutherland) including Porkchop, Q-Tip, Dan MacCoy, and Jack LaRue have one thing in common: Their plants grow with high nighttime temperatures. Now that may just be their natural environment or they use a greenhouse or cover that holds in nighttime temperatures. I personally try very hard. Supplement my soil ($$$) with all kinds of stuff and use the best seeds. Am I limited to only 6.06 pounds? My nighttime temperatures are in the upper '40's and low 50's much of the summer. My GDD will be lower. Now someone with eastern warm summer nights or Washington tomato cover will have a higher GDD. But the optimum GDD would be: Example: High temp = 92, low temp = 68 92 + 68 = 160 160/2 = 80 80 – 50 = 30 GDD
So do what you need to do to get a 30 GDD Tim, and good luck. I need another drink..

This is why I waited until late July to early August to have pollination's. The optimum GDD.

Online search says 1300 growing degree days. Divide by Rebels 30 per day “optimal” temps and you get 43 days to grow a tomato. From blossom to red...
Good question... next question is are there any weighoffs near me in 43 days... I will have to drive up to Skagit... or do the early tomato entry!

Never heard of this stuff before but with the formula that garden Rebel gave i come up with an average around 900 GDD.

Hey Wixy. I copied and pasted this funny math. You have to put a decimal in front of your second zero, then divide by two! 45 days! C'mon. Simple.

Thanks guys u all are helpfull.GDD is a good number for predicting a weight off site...but also cant controll temps...so when night time temps drop below 50 u use a minus 1 then take those then divide by 2.. still learing with u ..guys thanks chris, chops, garden rebel, marv, marleyglenopkins

Also remember that it is possible to store them up to a few weeks for a weigh off...if need be...if you set 45 days before a weigh-off, that’s prolly close to where you need to be...wixom has numbers on all that stuff
