Anyone know what I'm talking about?..an old friend from haiwai used to tell me about the pot growers on the island "nailing" their plants.,.i inadvertently "nailed" the plant that grew the 8.22 this past season...I'm gonna "nail" half my plants next year, see if there's anything to it...right around day 21 of fruit growth...(or maybe I just like saying nailed..but it could be a secret technique)...

Adding rusty nails to the soil around the plant adding iron? You do construction. Maybe you planted on an old burn pile?

If that’s the case I should be in good shape.
My wife’s grandfather built our house 60 years ago.
He dug a hole in the ground and buried all his scraps from the job.
I turned up enough bricks and glass to build a house this spring.

"Nailing" is actually putting a nail through the stem of a plant. Some people think the plant will use the iron in the nail and especially if it is rusty. Rust is actually iron oxide which is iron in a form that plants cannot use.

Yes Marv but as I understood it, rust had nothing to do with it...somethins about what the injury signals to the plant ..it this case a big fat slammer...f yea..nailin everything next year...big 10" steel spikes..maaaahhhh.
