What exactly are you guys planning to use this year for soil preparation and fertilizer plan. I am going to use quite a bit of composted leaves to help the soil prep, a dab of something with high phosphates early in the year and something high in potassium later in the year and some Uncle Dunkel's along the way. And, depending on how the plants look and the weather is, maybe some foliar balanced fertilizer here and there as we go. Your thoughts?

Also, if you feel it is important to prepare your planting hole, what are you putting in? Maybe some MgSo4. Possibly some myco? Maybe some humic acid? Your thoughts?

I am being a minimalist this year when it comes to the garden. Back to the basics. My soil test showed I have been way over the top with Nitrogen, salts, ect. No compost, nothing. Last year my stems and leave were huge for the pumpkins and tomato leaves curled and difficulty setting fruit. I have let it leach all winter. I am not tilling, only using a broad fork. Only tomatoes and peppers this year..and many tomatoes. For each hole I am putting in two WOW starter packs and a handful of crushed egg shells. Also, a little Epsom salts and powdered kelp. In the last couple of years I have added over 1000lbs of coffee grounds to the garden. Too much! So no more for now. But I have many many worms. I am trying the no till method this year and as mentioned before just using a broadfork to get a little air down below. Definitely much less water this year. The tomatoes were on the AG watering schedule last year and that was way too much. I will use good foliar like Lithovit with Mag, and Dunkel's Tomato Turbo, and crushed aspirin. Will throw in some Esposma tomato tone or Jobes tomato food pellets every couple of weeks. I am starting much later and into the garden much later. This is a reset for me this year in how I grow tomatoes.

I had done a soil test and I took it through the Langley soil estimator, so I have put down the amendments I came up with.
The plants will still get some Humic, Azos and Mycorrhiza in their holes.
I plan to do some foliar spraying with Dunkel's Tomato Turbo, Companion and rotate contact and systemic fungicides.
Every plant will get a drench with Cal Mag Plus once a week.
Just because your soil test says that you have plenty of Calcium doesn't mean that it is available to your plants.
Last year I found that when I did the CMP I didn't get blossom end rot but when I forgot it I had multiple fruits come up with BER.
And that was despite mulching and trying to evenly water!

I plan on putting crushed egg shells, and some rock phosphate powder in each planting hole. I will also add some Myco, and various meals to the hole. The plant will get sprayed with my poor man's version of Dunkel's, and drenched with compost tea. I also spray my plants with the same fungicides, and pesticides as the pumpkin plants get. I do not plan to eat these.

Double dug with old horse manure compost for 12 plants. Myco Apply,I usually don't need to add calcium but spray it weekly by foliar Calcium carbonate (food grade) it works better through the leaves. Like to add fish emulsion up to choosing a bloom, kelp all season, epsom salts (MgSO4) every 2 weeks or if need more Mg in soil, humic acid weekly diluted. Soil seems to be fairly balanced now. Need some Magnesium, maybe a little more iron (iron sulfate) tomatoes like it.
