Do they have to be ripe to qualify? They take forever it seems.

I think we should keep it how it was originally, first day of spring, and for some that may want to go until red ripe just do it on our own just to see the potential, I doubt if mine will be blushing by the time it's over, they are much slower and lighter weight for size than outdoor grown tomatoes.

Just a note to add. They are at their hevest weight when only 1/3 red! I hope that's true, that's what everyone ses. That's when I harvest all mine. Oh man I hope that's true...???

I was referring to the weight in relation to the three dimensions, obei was over 17in. circ. which should be around 2 lbs, I picked one that was 17 1/4" and it was 1.11 lbs normally outdoor grown would have been 2 plus pounds. Interesting!

That is interesting. It's shape dosent seem like it would throw off the estimate. Did you cut it open to se what it looks like inside? By the way.. Great job

Thanks, no it's sitting on the counter to see if it will ripen, I've got bigger ones so it will be interesting to see if it holds true on all of them.

looking at the chart that marv Meissner has in his book, 2 lbs usually starts at 18" i put up his weight chart in my diary if you wont to look at it ?

There's another way of determining the weight by taking 3 measurements that is more accurate, it would supposedly compensate for odd shaped fruit, but it doesn't work any better than Marv's chart for indoor grown tomatoes.

Well, I picked a tomato this morning and it is close to lining up either Marv's chart 18 1/2" circ. Weight was 2.2 lbs I've posted a photo in my diary it's waiting to be cleared for publishing.

It was still very green and hard as a rock almost.wonder what the other bigger ones will weigh, I might leave them on past the fish date just to see what happens.
