It has been 3 years in a row that my tomatoes in my back garden grow great until they set fruit then start slowly wilting? And my tomatillos get this strange fungus that grows and bursts the stems? But everything else that I grow is fine? I'm very frustrated by this.i used to grow beautiful tomato plants there.

Porkchop is correct concerning juglone poisoning. It is a killer of tomato plants.

I would guess that it takes awhile for the juglone levels to accumulate in the plant .. Not 100% on that.. Just a guess...

I dug a spot for 3 tomato plants only a few feet away from the main garden and they are growing beautifully.the plants that died in my garden went hollow inside the stem?
