Just a reminder to all of you that beefsteak tomatoes, the ones most of us are growing, often have an exerted stigma. This means that the stigma, where the pollen actually enters, often extends beyond the anther and so has exposure to the environment and more difficulty getting pollen from the anther cone as they are outside it. These blossoms may abort due to improper pollination. These are often the megablossoms we are trying to cultivate. These need some help from you and are the ones you must add some pollen to. Be certain you use blossoms of the same variety if you want to save the seeds of the tomato for later use.
