He was just kidding around too. Not even sure what seed it was from. Congrats buddy! Pressure is on for the contest now! I've gotta get rid of a racoon or an opossum that ate my first attempt clean off the vine!

Thanks for all the help Dan! What a gas and yes,, we narrowed it down to the 5.30 MacCoy.

Looks like I'll be cleaning seeds out tomorrow and getting them in the dirt quick!

On top of Brush Mountain, Pa.

When the now defunct Great Tomato Hunt was held in Canada there was an old farmer guy who came there with a tomato plant growing in a 5 gallon bucket. It had about 6 tomatoes growing on it that were all over 3 pounds. With the extensive pruning now being done it may well be possible to grow a properly cared for plant in a container that would produce a record sized tomato. Charles Wilber grew 111 pounds of tomatoes on one plant grown in a half whiskey barrel. Quite a few of his tomatoes grown in the container were over 3 pounds. What might he have accomplished with more pruning and some of the other techniques we now are using? All of you should check out his book, "How to Grow World Record Tomatoes" published in 1999. There are a lot of helpful ideas in the book and he grew organically.
