Here we go with a new season. It is important for the future to know the heritage of your seeds so that if you are lucky enough to grow a really big tomato you will be able to detail the parentage of the seeds for the next year growers of that seed. This is so important for future growers. Just naming the seed after yourself with no other details as to actual parentage will only add to the confusion of tomato seed genetics.

Couldn't agree more! I have about 10 lineages with just a last name of the grower, as if they were new varieties developed by the grower, and I may never figure out their parentage, or even their variety: Big Zac? Delicious? MegaMarv? Domingo?
Who has time to grow out these "mystery" stains for several years to try to assess what variety they are?
