If you want to grow an 8 lb. tomato in 50 days from fruit set (that is, the first day of noticeable growth), here's a formula that should work reasonably well:

Y = 0.0052X + 0.0034X^2 - 0.00004X^3

Where X = Number of days since fruit set and Y = Weight of tomato

Of course you'll need to have an estimate of weight to make this work. Between day 19-20 your tomato should gain about 0.17 lb. to be on target. Depending upon the geometry of your tomato, this reflects a largest circumference gain of about 0.55 inches, so 1 inch in 1 day is very encouraging!

That's impressive growth! At the peak of Godzilla's growth he was adding exactly that but quickly slowed at around 26 DAP without any real notable change in temperature.

thanks for the info!i had two tomatoes gain one inch between
day 19 to 20.they slowed to a half inch for two days i added some 0-0-25
to the soil and had a 85 degree day yesterday and boom back to a inch!
this is getting fun!

the smallest one of the two that gained an inch yesterday and
both are right at 20 days old is 20 inches and the biggest is 22 inches cc.
