I was gifted some seed of Harp 7.18lb F1 (seed from following generation ), is there some links to some pics or information on the original plant? Also was it a Big Zac? I'm very excited to grow this not sure how it will go in my climate? I will be attempting to grow it in our Autumn into winter as our cooler months are much better to grow tomatoes in then summer which is too humid and with so many pests. Any information would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

So would I be correct in thinking the parentage of the Hart 7.18 looks something like this?
Big ZacF1 > 4.59 Lyons 2006 > 3.9 Catapano 2007 > 5.58 Timm 2008 > 7.18 Harp 2009?

Thanks Tim I worked that out after a bit of googling, you guys might not know but the importation of tomato seeds into Australia is prohibited, so over here we are very limited to what we can grow, sometimes some lucky beans seem to appear in the country but on the whole we are very restricted due to biosecurity crop protection.

dale is a good guy and seeds are good at giant tomato seeds.com ,ive got a bunch off of him and he is pretty good with his info!!!!
i sent seeds to australia had to write exactly what it was on bubble went through no problems , but was a few years ago!!!

I was doing some googling and it does appear that that may be the pedigree of those seeds, I didn't mean to imply the site was dodgy just that I had no other source to verify its claims.
Trust me they are no longer on the allowable imports along with corn, sunflowers all Ipomoea species including sweet potato etc. Parcels definitely get through however though over site only. I understand they are even looking at reducing the allowable list moreso in the next couple years.

Tim is correct that it is an F5. My seed from last season is two generations away from the 7.18, and is an F7. That is what I have in my records.

Is there a great deal of variation in the various generations of Big zacs?
When I called my seed F2 I ment from the Harp 7.18 not from its original BZ it never occurred to me to keep track from the original hybrid seed, but I certainly will from now on. Some really big seed came out of such a small self pollinated line it would be great to see some controlled out crossing with some of these. Its interesting stuff.

Perry's Greenhouse (www.perrysgreenhouse.com), though it's been inactive for a while, has lots of information about Big Zac (7.18 Harp 2009) and its relatives.

Importation of tomato seeds prohibited in Australia? It appears that the United States Postal Service is not yet aware of this:

Maybe there is some fine print on some official Australian government website somewhere that I'm missing? Perhaps limits on amount, value, etc., but not a wholesale absolute ban? As mentioned, full disclosure on a Customs Declaration CN 22 form (PS Form 2976), including scientific name, has worked fine for me several times, including quite recently.

These seeds are allowable subject to Table 1: List of Permitted Species. These species may be imported subject to the condition C18144, C19976, C19977.
Which is a 180 dollar methyle bromide treatment. So a 25 dollar seed package becomes 200 dollars very quickly. A lot of the mail isn't checked obviously.

These conditions are created to limit hobbyists from importing seeds seed companies and the likes have there own set ups or have seed certified from their OS counterparts. This is why heirloom seed and seed savers networks are becoming so important to Australia' back yard gardeners.
