What is everyone using to support these giant tomato plants ? If you can post a pic of your set-up, that would be great !

If you go to my diary you'll see what I'm using.
I'm using eight foot stakes set approx 6 to 8 inches into the ground reinforced by two 2 foot stakes placed one on each side of the post and sunk 12 inches into the ground then strapped together by zip strips.
This method makes it easier to take down and remove to be used for next season.
Also topping your plants at six feet seems to be the consensus to allow more of the plants energy to be focused on growing a giant tomato as apposed to growing salad.

Tieing mine off to chi ken wire fence. That keeps all the neighbor hood cats out.

I use "T" post which I cross near the top, and join together with a small bolt or screw, in the holes that are already in the post. I then put them across my row and pound them in about a ft. Farther down the row I put in another pair, and so on . Then I place a 1 3/ 8 pipe, between the "T" post in the X which has been created at the top. I tie string down from the top bar to the tomatoes, and use tomato clips to support the plant. this system is nice as it is reusable and you can lay a protective cover , over the top bar in case of frost, early or late in the season....Terry

I clip up the mainvine on a suspending line. Very easy to use. It's a special plastic clip that catch and hold firmly the line and support the vine.

I'm burying the tomato vines this year. It's nearly as much work as burying pumpkin vines, but I'm getting very good roots developing along the buried stems and already have some of the thickest stems I've seen.
Unfortunately, I put 20 plants in a space (230 sq. ft.) where I should have put only 6. I'm out of space and will need to put in posts and grow vertically for the rest of the season.
