can you put seedlings in too small? i am going to try it with some of my seeds--my feeling is that if they can get their roots into the ground instead of stuck in the bottom of a pot, it is all the better. they are sun-hardened already.

I put my 1197 in about 4 days after it came up and its doing great.

The smaller the seedling the more you are going to have to watch it to ensure it's viability.
Wind, too much rain flooding your planting area, animals., wild and domestic and of course insects.
No problem planting it, but just watch to make sure all is well.

I think seedlings are better off in pots.The smaller root system can get taken over by negative soil pathogens and such.I have lost plants that would have been better off in more sterile pots.The root bound plant in a pot I think is not an issue.Plus they grow faster.I put my melons in this year a a very early stage.They didnt grow with cables & huts.I have replaced most of them with older plants.Just my experience in the patch
