The Great Tomato Hunt has died. After 28 years it was decided that it was time to end the contest. It is no more. Sal Consiglio, who had been having the contest in honor of his father, simply tired of doing it. This was one of the premier tomato contests in North America and was held in Toronto. For years the largest tomatoes in North America were weighed at The Great Tomato Hunt. Sorry to see it pass. The GPC Contest now pretty much stands alone as the place of recognition for big tomatoes.

We need as many participants in this great thing we do and that includes contests and weigh offs. I'm sorry to hear of this being discontinued Marv.

I never attended, but they sure grew some monster maters over the years. Maybe someone will see the potential of it & bring it back in the next year or two.
