Here's my personal best and the best one of this growing season.
The tomato I was nursing towards the three pound mark started to flash color so I had to pick it.
2 LBS 8.6 OZ.
Decent for my rookie year of growing giant tomatoes.
Four pounds will be my goal for next season and being armed with excellent seed, excellent soil and Marv's book I shall reach that goal.

This is a bad year for tomatoes. Last year your tomato probably would have weighed over 4 pounds so you did good. Save your seeds and start planning for next season. Marv

Thanks Marley! That's excellent that yours are up higher on the plant. Mine was approx 4 feet up which is a minimum it seems. Be sure to shade your tomatoes. I used a light colored wash cloth with good success.

It is a bad year because of the weather with the prolonged very high temperatures in Ohio, Indiana and Pennsylvania. And then there was the drought. Add there were high early temperatures followed by low temps and too much rain early in the season. Many blossoms aborted. Just not the greatest conditions for many.

Most of my good blossoms aborted on me. I have a few that might make it over 3 pounds. Only time will tell. Always next year.
