I don't know if this helps, but I used 4 ft cages and lots of jute string to support my plants. I will be doing the same this year.

after growing the big zac for the first time i found alot of my plants falling over due to the weight of the tomatos,im thinking of useing 2 by 4 or 1/2 inch galvinized pipes 10 foot long ,2 foot in the gound,i wish i had room for rebar wire cages but garden is too small!!! pizza

Its not rebar its more like fencing and should staked as to not tip over,I used to bury first 6 inchs of wire in soil,so not tippy,

I cut the bottom wire going around the cage leaving vertical wire to stick into the ground. I never have had any to fall over. But I don't have any wind problems. You can always stake them down with wood or metal stakes. Use zip ties to tie to stakes.

I leave the vertical wire on & bury it to help hold it in ground,We can get 30 to 50mph winds here.Soil is loose enough to twist cage down 6 inchs by hand ,then roots will even help to hold in place.

I build a rebar cage every year. I had a friend who swore that the iron in the rebar helped the tomatoes do better. I build a cage large enough to support 40 or more plants. The plants are held up by bailing twine tied overhead the rebar. Can set it up in less than 90 minutes and take it down in even less time.
