I have about 5 different types of tomatoes I planted about 1 1/2 weeks ago they were looking great and then we got a lot of rain, around 5" in one days and then more rain off and on for 4 more days, I asume the have way to much moisture but they all seem to be turning slightly bluish? Does any one know if this is because of moisture problems? Also I have some pepper plants not to far away that got the same amount of rain and they seem to be doing fine. Thanks

too much nitrogen would be my first guess. the excess rain probably made a lot of it available, assuming you added any.

Thanks for the reply, I guess it could be too much Nitrogen but everything else (peppers, cucumbers and squash)seems to be doing fine I really didn't add that much to the soil just a normal application of 13-13-13.

They turn purple if the roots are cold.

I know when it rains a lot I start to feel a little blue.

Cold soil temperatures lock out Phosphorus which cause purpling of the stem and undersides of leaves.

Thanks for all the replies! We did have a few nights that were around 40 when we had all the rain so I am guessing the cool nights along with the cool rain did it, they are now looking great. Thanks again everyone!
