A few years ago Ernie Peirce made a cross of German Giants, Big Zac, etc... The end result was Thunder Creek Variety. My buddy is a farmer in town and I gave him some seeds last year..he said they were huge and delicious. I'm growing a few this year...anybody ever grown this variety??? Mark

Mark i grew 4 plants about 5 years ago,the plants were the biggest i,ve ever grown, the tomato weights were in the 1 too 2 lb size, very vigorious plants, the thing i remember most was the stalks, they had massive amounts of roots(hundreds) growing out of them from bottom too top some were 1" in length,if i ever grow them again i,d try to tilt the plants side ways and bury the main stalk.best of luck:john

i found this on the web about it. Sounds like a good one to plant ! "On Apr 29, 2003, giantveggies wrote: This tomato variety was created in 1997 by Ernie Pearce of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan Canada. It was created mainly for size in hopes of breaking the current world record for tomatoes.
The name Thunder Creek was taken from the name of the creek which has supplied most of the water for this Giant since its creation.(that's right the secrets in the water). It is a red colored beef stake that is very meaty and with a small seed cavity which taste a little more acidic than a Brandywine and it averages 4-5lb fruit in the "growing giant tomatoes method" under normal grow conditions it sits at about 2 lbs-2 lbs 5oz. which is slightly better than Delicious under normal grow conditions at 1 lb 8oz.-1 lb 14oz."
