if i grow seeds from a tomato that i grew last year (a "monster" tomato variety from P&P) is there a way to know if it will produce tomatoes that are similar in size and shape?

just guessing, but would think similar to AG's if it got "selfed" should be same variety, but if not you will still get 50% of "monster" and 50% of ???

It depends on the variety LongmontPete. There are quite a few "monster" tomato varieties out there. Big Zac is the most popular hybrid monster variety. Delicious, Giant Belgium, German Giant, Mong, Phil's Fantastic, and Ultimate Giant are all heirlooms (open pollinated)varieties.

Pete monster tomatoes can be both heirlooms and hybrids. Like DTM said a few varities. I have tried to cross polinate tomatoes by hand, bu hard to do. I forge wich one i polinated lol.

Big Zac is a true F1 & won't breed true. The others I believe are OK.
