Anyone have a guestimate how much water to use on watermelon plant growing in a 16-6’”. Garden . I have a 75 foot soaker hose I. and I turn hose on full Power through a 3/4 drip hose. Anyone know what kinda pressure the avg home has and know how long I’d have to water to get 2” of water. Just looking for a guess time wise.(50) gallons. I’m starting G to try to grow a big watermelon here in Western wa in a green house since weather is bad for watermelon.

Depends on hole spacing, hole size, and hose pressure. In about 100 square feet, you would need 100 gallons, im pretty sure, to make 2 inches of water. You would probably, thoigh, only want it to do a half inch or so, and run it multiple days a week, because watermelons need a few inches a week, not 2 inches a day.

Here are a couple of links that might help. Porkchops is right.Do not soak them to death. Will have to do till the growers come by.

I would go by what the soil looks and feels like over an amount that you are trying to put down. The best melon growers do push the water to their melons because they are looking to maximize their weights. Too much water is worse than not enough. I would start out with a half an hour and observe how the soil is absorbing it. You can increase the time if the soil needs more time to become uniformly moist. Most of my timed watering lasts for 30-60 minutes and I repeat as needed. I am new to t tape as I am trying it for the first time this year. From what I have noticed so far is that it comes out really slow. So I will have to water a little every day or set it for longer periods less frequently.

Bed that size you probably only need 25 to 30 gallons every other day. Depends on how your soil drains an how big your plant actually are. I water from a 275 gallon tote so I know how much each bed gets at the full swing of things that waters 2000 square feet in one watering

Lots depends on how well your soil drains. A big advantage of raised beds is the increased ability of soil to drain water.
