Subject: ripe Carolina cross?

How do you tell when a Carolina cross is ripe? I haven't sprayed anything not labeled for fruit and vegetables, so at some point I think I'll eat a non-competitive melon or two that for whatever reason aren't going to be giants. (Though a 60 pound watermelon is still pretty big compared to what people see in the grocery store.)

I got one to about 80 days last year...prolly could of used another 10 days or so...I think you want to look for a little yellowing around the bottom ..I'm def not an expert though...can't wait to eat mine...Depends what Andy wolf has goin as to how sweet it will taste ...

They are ripe when the melon turns dark green close to and around the stem.
