Note for next year. Put your seed in a plastic cup, add water, amendments and seed. Take another identical plastic cup and put a small hole in the bottom. Now put it into the first cup and push it down. This will force some of the contents into the second cup and force the complete seed to be soaked.

Wayne,I can tell you what I do.
I soak my preferred mix in water than I squeeze it out.
Soak, file,whatever your preference.
I do neither.
Place seed tip down about three quarters of the way in the soil.
The top of the seed sticking out.
I germinate about 97 degrees and she usually pops in about 40 hours.
Will look like the seed is working it's way out of the soil.
Remove from heat and put under lights(or outside if the weather is appropriate.)
9/10 times the cots will shed the seed coats by themselves.

After 8 days one finally broke soil.Hopefully I'll get a couple more soon. I have some heat on them , about 80 degrees , maybe I'll have to crank it up a bit.

They tend to best germinate at 95-100 degrees.

yes, 80 is too cool, more heat is needed

Thanks to all...thinking I have temps correct, but maybe starting to deep! Thanks 31, will try the concept of top of seed above soil level! Peace, Wayne
