I'm in Seattle. First time watermelons. I have a few nice melons but the weather is deteriorating. My melons have turned yellow on bottom but the trindl is still not turning brown. I'm over 90 days outside. Do I wait?????

Your melons should be fully ripe if they are 90 days post pollination. But if you are just talking about how long the plants have been outside that has nothing to do with the melons being ripe or not.Green tendrils would tell me the melons probably are not ripe yet.Try pushing down firmly on the top of a melon with the palm of your hand. If you feel or hear a popping from inside the melon that is an indication it is fully ripe.

i would guess if its turning yellow, its done. Many times yellow=going bad.

If they are ripe, how do I preserve them until weigh-off time in early October?
