Hi All. Curious as to the ideal plant total vine growth needed prior to pollination.Would appreciate any help.Thanks.

I read on here somewhere about 60 - 65 linear ft of vine growth would be a minimum starting point. Maybe 100 sq feet of plant ? That's kinda what I'm thinking. Read the "holy crap" post a few lines down. I think I asked the same questions.

Thanks,Started these in march and they are getting close to that.Pumpkins like to be set out on main around 20 feet out from stump.Any idea if its preferred to set melons out at a similar distance?

20 ft is a long way I think 6-10 is preferred. From my understanding,it's hard to set a melon on the main vine. Don't hold me to it,this is my first year with the giant watermelon as well. I know I have asked lots of questions myself, and there are some very knowledgable posters on this board. If you have the time scroll back through the older pages on this board. Lots of answers in those older posts. I'm thankful for all the advice I've learned on this board and from various other growers.
