Hi All,
Looking for a beginners guide to giant watermelons. Last year was my first year growing them and I enjoyed it. Now next year I want to really give them the attention and the care needed for growing them. Is there a basic beginners guide for giant watermelons out there?
Thanks

The book that got me off to a good start was "How To Grow Giant pumpkins 2" by Don Langevin. Although somewhat dated now, much of the advice in that book is still very important for a modern grower to know.

WOW I am sorry. I did not read your post or realize this was the watermelon forum. Ignore my previous post. Lloyd Bright's book on how to grow giant watermelons is a great book to have for melon growers. He has some really neat pictures from back in the 20's and 30's. You can get the book from his website. I believe it is giantwatermelons.com

Here is the link to James White's article on giant watermelon growing here on BP: http://www.bigpumpkins.comAttachmentsHow_To_Grow_Giant_Watermelon.pdf
James is one of the pioneers of giant watermelon growing whom I highly respect. He also lists several links to additional giant growing information in his PDF.

Lloyd Bright's book is great. The pumpkin book's by Don Langevin also will help with watermelons.
