Hi, just a question that i am sure has been asked before or just might be a basic common knowlege thing, but have to ask.
Do you cover the female flowers in a little bag the night before pollinating them? I have a few of those little ants getting around my plants and pretty sure they will be into the pollen before i do.
Any information is greatly appreciated. Cheers.

you must cover before and after polination if you want it to be a controled cross and not open.

I cover the females and males with small Styrofoam cups the night before and pin them down, before pollinating and cover the female after pollinating. That keeps the bees out of the male flowers before and out of the females after. I take the cups off the females after 24 hours. That works good for me.
