What am I to do. Yesterday I was measuring my melon and it rolled off the boards I had it on. It is growing on a hill. When it rolled, the vine split lengthwise about 3". The stem is fine. What should I do? Treat it and wrap it, let it be...I need some good advise. PLEASE...

We had a vine split about a foot lengthwise on a 197 Jones plant last year. It was on the main vine about a foot from the stump and it split on it's own. I painted it with straight Dacinol using a paint brush. The split scarred over and the plant went on the grow a 171 lb and a 146 lb melon.

It should heal keep the bugs off it.Diluted daconil might be better it will do less damage to the plant tissue.

Thanks, deed done, daconil applied. Next time I will take into account the hilly land.
