So my 8 year old daughter decided over the winter that she wanted her own garden. To keep her interest up we started building her a raised bed (8X4) right away. By the time winter broke she had a long list of veggies she wanted to grow. And wouldn't you know it watermelons made the list. LoL

So after trying to explain to her there just not enough room in the raised bed for a watermelon plant. I told her we could till up a corner of the yard for her watermelon plant. Im not sure we got the ok from a 150 lb. Mastiff but we are going to give it a go. LoL

My first of what will be many questions is. How many watermelons can you set on a Crimson Sweet plant?

I've had about 2 or 3 on one plant and if you keep them well fertilized they will be nice sized.

What type of fertilizer would you suggest, and how often should it be applied? Thanks

I have had good results with crimson sweet and have found it to be high yielding. Like GA Giants say you can get two or three maybe many more per plant. I have done really well with ordinary 10-10-10. (any balanced fertilizer should work)

For an organic fertilizer I highly recommend a product called chickety doo. Cucurbits love the stuff and it's analysis is very high for an organic. (5-3-2) It is loaded with mictronutrients and calcium too. The stuff doesn't smell so great, but the smell goes away after you wash it in.
